“What is your aspiration?” my daughter and a book I was reading asked recently (the mysterious synchronicity of this!).
I wanted to write not just about connection, but to recreate a journey. Our deepest aspirations are first an external goal. What follows is an individual path.
My aspiration? Connection. To myself, to the transcendent in me, to the world out there; it only works out in that sequence.
What’s your aspiration?
Does it transcend dimensions? What is it you have covered, and what is still to attain?
To recreate my journey, I wrote three separate pieces, with this meta-reflection as a fourth. Each of them is self-sufficient, just as each dimension is a world in itself. But if the urge is there, we may connect several worlds – and move on, from text to text. Transcending the text boundaries just like transcending the one given (or chosen) world.
A journey, too, from a chaotic draft recording raw impressions, to articulating, expanding and connecting, finally landing in a place of symbolic, laconic, mantra-like formula. Me, just connecting the texts.
I am here, connecting. And you?
This piece is connected to three others. First, you need to read them in the order I have in mind; when you’re through, you’ll see you can read them in any order you prefer.
This is the fourth and last piece. Read the one before here. Or read the first one in this chain.
Zoe, this is really incredible! I went back and read all four several times. And I LOVE the images, the shift in color with each one and then this one having less distinct edges, connections blurring together.
Zoe, I like the idea and it is definitely intriguing. I think what would be helpful is something more tangible in the process... tell a story with certain details that help build the connection. Maybe because I am a visual learner, I am trying to picture this, and I think a story would help.
It is a creative, outside-the-box kind of idea, and I am guessing that readers (like me) will need a little help.
